Hey guys,
I would like to share a cool restaurant that I went this past week. To start off, its 40 min away from my house...no, its not in another city but more like a neighborhood I usually don't go to called Vila Leopoldina.
Once I arrived at the doors of the restaurant, I thought: no one would believe that there is a restaurant inside this building. Reason: the restaurant lies inside a art store where artists can buy materials such as: oil, colors, books and basically anything an art atelier needs! I went in and immediately felt the colors and the smell of inspiration in this place.
As you go inside and down a little stairs you go into Peti world. The restaurant works on the terrace which is surrounded by a passion fruit tree. I felt like I was in Alice in Wonderland movie...the Johnny Depp version, having tea. I looked around, the space is fairly small, but full of curious people trying the restaurant's flavours. As I looked around, I spotted a passion fruit hanging from one of the trees on top of one of the customer's table...charming!
Chef Victor Dimitrow is in command of this charming restaurant. He has worked in France and Ireland and today, he opened his own restaurant inside the store his parents own. Graduated in gastronomy in Anhembi Morumbi, in São Paulo, Victor did his post graduate in the Paul Bocuse School in Lyon and worked at the Le Cateaubriand in Paris which then was the 9th best restaurant in the world. Shortly after, he began working at the two star Michelin Patrick Guilbaud and finally worked at the Camden Kitchen in Dublin.
The cool thing about Dimitrow is that he changes his menu every 20 days or so...for people that don't know, this is very difficult since the chef is literally creating a new flavour, a new piece of art with the mission in awing its customers. Another cool thing is that its a price friendly place...you pay roughly R$ 40,00 to have a starters, main dish and a dessert!
I sat down and marvelled myself in this small little restaurant full of life. Crayons were put on the table so you could color while waiting for the dishes...how artsy! The waiter served us a basket of fresh bread, each one had a different flavour with butter and thick salt accompanying it.
My first dish was something like this (I will try to translate haha): avocado cream , some sort of stingray fish , yam chips and coriander sprouts. I'm not sure I told you guys but if a food has coriander, I'm going for it! Perhaps this is why I love Vietnamese food so much.
I also tried the goat cheese mousse with veggies of the season and olive crumble. Delish!!
My main dish: fish of the day with sweet potatoe pure, shrimps and a citric sauce.
Dessert: Creme brulee with madagascar vanilla and caramel and salted pop corn.
Below, I will add a few pictures so you can eat through your eyes like I did when I would see what was served to my neighbors! Overall, it was an exciting experience! Peti restaurant is a big soul of flavours and originality.
Stay tuned for more! Xx
