Hey guys,
Today I’m going to write about something that is very special to me. Not too long ago, when I was living in Montreal, my friends and I were fan of boutique Editorial (http://www.editorialboutique.com), located downtown. Editorial brought inspirations from all over the world but mostly a rock meets hip, boho type girl. In the boutique you could find many varieties of jeans, skinny jeans, retro type outfits… so I basically felt I was in a Coachella festival every time I went in. Not long after the store was opened, they brought these high waist skirts that reminded me a Hervé Léger with hysterical colorful patterns! The skirts followed stripped lines with a native pattern…very summer.
E.M. Couture, skirts hand-made resemble these skirts but it's work is much more artistic. The designs are composed of various types of laces: fancy, handmade, metallic, fringes, braids, pilot, bullion fringes and embroidery laces. All of them are interlaced in colors forming a pattern that become a true piece of art. Today, E.M. Couture has made more than 300 skirts for friends and fans across the world and has made collaborations with great artists such as Cristina Batlan, Romanian shoe, bag and accessory designer.
The brand’s inspirations come from colors and different textures, but most importantly, the challenge to mix different laces from different colors together. Romania, country in which the artist lives in today, is a big inspiration for her pieces of art. As I in my previous post about Romania, the Romanians contribute to artists in various ways such as folkloric traditions, hand made art and its rich cultural background.
As you will see in pictures below, E.M. Couture develops the skirts according to the liking of its consumer, meaning, the preference of colors and the skirt has a complete silk termination on the inside. The products come from all over the world: India, Syria, Brazil and Oriental countries, therefore, the desgins cannot be imitated since laces are bought according to what the provider has in stock.
The artist believes that her creations are for all type of women that enjoy colors. After all, the skirts are developed to be worn at any time. However, she strongly believes that the design represents the delicate, feminine and practical side of women.
Below, you will find a few of the skirts that were produced. The attention to detail and colors is out of this world! For more information, you can e-mail me for the artist's contact or #emcouture on Instagram to check it out!
Stay tuned for more. Xx
